Food Review: Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh 强记肉骨茶 in Kota Tinggi

Along Kota Tinggi, on the way from JB to Mersing Jetty, is where this famous bak kut teh – Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh 强记肉骨茶 is located.  haha. This is another super outdated post of mine. I was introduced to this place  by my diving instructor when I went for my diving trip earlier this year. According to my diving instructor, Joseph, this place is usually crowded and is best to make reservation.https://www.flickr.com/photos/100822704@N02/14207711899/player/
We arrived at 8am and  the crowd was already starting to stream in. Housed under the attap roof, Kee Kiang has this reminiscent setting of Singapore in its 60s. However with its rustic setting, Kiang Kee could be easily missed as it blends very well with the surroundings. Do take note that, Kiang Kee is on the right side of the road if you are driving from JB. ;D

One of the unique feature of bak kut teh in Malaysia is the usage of claypot which ensured a more even cooking and also retaining the warmth of the soup better.

The pig trotter is very flavourful, tender and the gravy goes perfectly with rice! Yum Yum!

The bak kut teh is mild on the peppery taste as compare to Singapore Bak Kut Teh but the herbal taste is simply alluring and made you reach for more. Beside the usual pork ribs, there are also other ingredients such as the fried beancurb skin and mushroom.

Do order a pot of tea to make this a wholesome Bak Kut Teh experience. 🙂
