With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching us in less than 10 days, have you guys bought your mooncakes? If not, you may want to consider the truffle-centred snowskin mooncakes at Antoinette. Yes, Chef Pang did it again. He really never fails to surprise us, isn’t it?
Instead of the usual lotus paste, Low Sugar White Lotus Paste with Dark Chocolate Truffle seems to be a better option for me as the sweetness is not as overwhelming.
However, nothing beats the Chestnut Lotus Paste with White Chocolate Matcha Truffle which you can taste the prominent truffle taste.
Low Sugar White Lotus Paste with Salted Egg Truffle
Joining Antoinette’s popular snowskin mooncakes (the Longan Goji Berry with Cashew Nuts and the Dark Chocolate Lotus Paste with CrunchyPearls) series, this year we have 3 more unique flavours. These new flavours can be enjoyed two ways! You can either have them chilled for a creamy texture or lightly warmed to reveal an oozing centre! What I really like about Antoinette’s mooncakes are there are smaller than usual and are available in a box of eight ($54.50) with 2 each of the new flavours and 1 each of the existing flavours. Quite good for people like me who likes variety. hahaha.
For this season, Chef Pang also launched 4 new cakes together with the picturesque Terrarium cake ($20.00)!
This beautiful garden is made of dark chocolate mousse, passionfruit parfait, caramelised banana flambé, light cocoa sponge and smoked almond nougatine. Seriously, this is almost too pretty to be eaten!
My favourite got to be Superlova ($10) which is crowned with raspberry caviar, baby rose macaron, rose petal meringue, raspberry marshmallows and coral sponge. This is not just a pretty cake. I enjoyed the balanced acidity in the cake which makes for a refreshing treat any day any time.
If not, you can also try Charlotte III which is made of house-made forest berries jelly and strawberry mousse, topped with white chocolate vanilla cream.
Chestnut cake lovers, you will be pleased to find Marronette ($9) at the cake display this season. With black sugar crumble to give it some texture and orange confit to give it a light and zesty touch, this cake can be very irresistible!
Brittany ($9.50) is a real treat for any chocolate lovers. Imagine smooth chocolate Chantilly and caramel mousse, with fluffy cocoa sponge and crunchy almond praline feuilletine. Yes, that is Brittany! Chocolately velvety goodness with that nutty textural bite! What is there not to love!
