Everyone needs some inspirations especially when we are facing negative energy from all directions (left, right, center) everyday. Walking into its last installation for 2016, The Best of You exhibition is holding a Finale Exhibition at Marina Square from 1 to 7 November 2016. This is a space where people come together to share their experiences and appreciation of people who have helped shaped them into who they are.
I always love to read/listen to stories about people’s lives. In them, I can feel their emotions and draw inspirations from their experiences. At the Best of You exhibition, there are stories of how people overcame their crisis, true life encounters that have shaped them, ordeals that have moulded them, people talked about their appreciation towards people, shared their dreams and talked about how they draw strength from the support of their family and friends.
Different people have different ways of expressing themselves. There are also art pieces and installation in the exhibition that tell stories of the artists.
From all walks of life, these are tributes that speak of courage, regret, community, love, encouragement, redemption and, most of all, empowerment. One of the most inspiring story for me is the story about June, a transgender whose parents embraced her sexuality and gave her support after her sexual reassignment surgery. Thereafter, June started a shelter for the transgender community to let them experience the love that she experienced and give them a home when they are forsaken by their families. I feel that this is how any community should be. Full of love and sharing the positive vibes, making one another’s life a better one.
During the exhibition, I also managed to catch up with some friends and make some new ones. Although we might be facing different challenges everyday, let us take some time off our busy schedules to reflect on our accomplishments and appreciate our lives and the people around us. Everyone has a hero in their lives, it can be themselves, their parents, their best friend, let us take this time to show appreciation to this hero. Through The Best of You exhibition, let it inspire you, encourage you and spur on others. It is a movement to celebrate the accomplishments, life experiences and the people that have brought out the best in you. So do not miss it. You have till tomorrow to catch it at Marina Square! The Best of You movement was inspired by how Julie’s team carries ‘The Best of You’ spirit in their everyday actions. A demonstration of Julie’s belief in doing good to do well in business, this movement also offers the staff a space to share their stories and to build camaraderie. If you have a story to share, you can also email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
