If you ask me which is the most underrated mall along Somerset, my answer would be Orchard Central. This mall is filled with so much more! Needless to say, Singaporeans are all about food. So what’s so special about Orchard Central? There is something for everyone. From burger to Japanese food and even Louisiana seafood. I was invited by the cool peeps from Orchard Central to have a food trail in Orchard Central.
Located on level 11, BWB is a burger bar concept F&B outlet that allows you to chill all day long with their all day Happy Hour (50% off draft beers, housepour wine and spirits from 3pm to 5pm). Best of all, you get to choose from outdoor seating to indoor dining.
Just in case you are wondering, BWB means Burgers, Wing, Bar. Hence it makes no sense to leave this place without trying their burgers and wings!
There are 4 (Hickory Smoked Barbecue, Coffee Marmite, Chilli Crab Sauce and Hot Buffalo) different kinds of wings [5 if you counted the Naked Wings ($14.50) aka deep fried chicken wings] going at $15.80 for 10 pieces per serving. We chose the Hot Buffalo wings which comes in 3 levels of spiciness (Mild, Medium or Suicide). Though none of us were suicidal, we all dived in for the most spicy level. While one of us felt that it was indeed very spicy, the rest of the group felt that it was still milder as compared to chilli padi.
For the less adventurous ones, you may want to try one of BWB’s signatures, BWB Classic Heavyweight ($19.90), which consisted of a moist and juicy angus beef patty, bacon, cheese, greens, french mustard sauce and chilli con carne topped with a sunny side up. Anything with sunny side up tastes good, isn’t it?
If you are open minded enough, please do give the Tyson Peanut Butter burger a try. I was very skeptical about this burger too. But oh my, I was so wrong! The creamy peanut butter sauce goes so well with the bacon. In fact I like that nuttiness in my burger.
Good news for those craving for burgers and work near Orchard Central, BWB has this set lunch promotion from 12pm to 3pm where the burgers are served with fries and a soda. Each set is only $11.90!

Anyone looking for places to go for Happy Hours? Located at level one, from beer to some of the finest selection of sake, The newest kid in Orchard Central, En Sakaba has got you covered.
Just like any sabana, you can expect an array of Japanese tapas on the menu. One of the items that caught my attention is the Jikasei Ankimo Tofu (Homemade monkfish liver tofu with caviar, uni & ikura, $10) and Zuwai Kani Miso Kourayaki (Crabmeat with roe & gut grilled in the shell and served with a raw quail egg, $13). Both items are not commonly seen elsewhere and have very unique taste profiles.
There are Jumbo Hotate Yaki ($8) served here too. Best of all, you can customise it according to how you like it.From mentaiko cheese (+$3) to foie gras (+$5) and uni (+$5), just the way you like it.
To allow customers a more holistic sake drinking experience, there are many different sake cups available to choose from. The price point is also relatively affordable with a bottle of 720ml Dassai Junmai Daiginjo 50 going for $100.

From the TungLok Group, Dancing Crab is like the American counterpart to Singapore’s favourite chilli crab. Sourced from the same vendors used at the group’s best seafood restaurants, you can be sure to see “dancing” Boston lobsters and Dungeness crabs in the fish tanks inside the restaurant.
All the combos and seafood come with 4 sauces (Dancing Crab Signature, Spicy Miso Butter, Beurre Blanc and Zesty Garlic Butter) to choose from.
We have chosen the Spicy Miso Butter sauce to go with our Combo Bag #1 ($88) as the sauce is exclusive to Orchard Central so you know la. You can’t have it elsewhere. True enough, the seafood was fresh and I like that hint of spiciness!
Lobster Roll ($29.50++) lover, there are lobster rolls available here too.

From time to time, there are Pop-up Markets with different themes going on in the atrium. Yes, you flea market lovers, look what I spotted at the Summer Lovin’ Pop up Market that is available till 14 July 2016. There are korean handmade accessories from SSoftly, cold processed soap from SHEA, healthy nuts and snacks from Seeds of Joy and beachwear from Tagstyle.
The parking here is also one of the cheapest around Somerset area. For weekdays, it is $2 for the first hour and subsequently at $1 per half hour (2am to 6pm). There is also complimentary valet parking off Killiney Road entrance and 3 hours complimentary parking with minimum of $50 spend in a single receipt. Not bad, right?
Besides the shopping and food, for those who just want to pamper yourself, there is a fine selection of manicures, pedicures, facials, slimming services, hair services and even waxing service. The mister can always chillax over a mug of beer or a good massage while the missus goes shopping or facial. Neat place, isn’t it?
Perhaps now you will agree with me that the Orchard Central is the most underrated mall in Somerset? =)
